Purchased in 2005, “The Firehouse” is a multi-family housing unit situated in the heart of Kansas City, Kansas. This property allows us to provide shelter to the homeless, serve families in need and now provide shelter and a fresh start for young adults aging out of foster care. Throughout the years, more than 17 families and numerous individuals have called The Firehouse “home”. We’ve been blessed with the opportunity to provide a family structure and share Christ’s love while helping to meet their physical and emotional needs.
In addition to being a place of refuge and recreation for our surrounding area, The Firehouse operates as the central hub for our neighborhood enrichment activities; this includes weekly Bible Study, educational support, and ongoing mentorship programs. After the donation of a large shed, we are now able to provide a food pantry and clothing closet to meet immediate needs. Throughout the year, we also have Easter Egg hunts, Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, carnivals, and bonfires. Through these many connection points, we are able to build lasting relationships and, most importantly, share the love of Jesus with our community.
